Share Page

If you’ve ever embarked on a road trip adventure in your Heartland RV, you probably know that not all factory-mattresses are created equal.

Tossing and turning is all too common on mattresses that are often made too stiff and firm and without your best night’s sleep in mind.

But fret not!

We’ve got a solution that’ll have you snoozing like a baby under the stars in no time — a high quality replacement RV mattress designed to perfectly meet all your needs and preferences.

We’re here to help! Fill out the contact form below, and one of our mattress experts will answer any questions you may have.

There are various sizes and styles of mattresses that we can design specifically for Heartland campers, allowing you to find one that best suits your needs.

What Size Mattresses Are Found in Heartland RVs?

RV mattress sizes vary depending on the year and model. With that said, here are three sizes common to many RVs, including Heartlands:

RV King: 72″ x 80″

RV Queen: 60″ x 75″

Bunk: 30″ x 80″

While these are the sizes most often found in Heartland RVs, it’s important to remember that this list is not exhaustive and your specific model may have something different. Be sure to double-check your size before committing to a new mattress!

How to Measure Your Heartland RV for a Mattress

To measure your Heartland RV for a mattress, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: The first and most important measurements you’ll need are the width and length. We recommend measuring the platform space that the mattress will occupy (usually a wood base) rather than the mattress itself. Then, leave an inch or two along the sides of the mattress to accommodate for bedding.

Step 2: If the mattress is in an area with low ceilings — such as a bunk space — measure the distance from the platform to the ceiling as well. This will help determine the best height for your new mattress.

Step 3: Account for any cut-outs or size changes along the mattress, such as rounded or angled corners. MattressInsider can create notches, as well as cut in corners or curves, to account for these!

Step 4: Create a rough sketch of your mattress design, and add as much information as you think will be helpful. This includes the overall width, length, and height, and the location of any cut-outs, folds (hinges), or curves.

Step 5: Contact our mattress experts to help find the perfect mattress for you. We are able to create mattresses in almost any size using various materials (including foam, gel memory foam, and latex!).

Your Replacement Heartland RV Mattress

Opting for a replacement mattress over a factory one offers several advantages — and not just mega-enhanced sleep.

These mattresses, specifically designed for your Fleetwood, provide cost-effectiveness due to their tailored fit and improved durability.

They also enhance versatility by being easily adjustable and movable, their portability and high-quality construction promising a superior (and more restful) adventure!

Folding and Hinged Mattresses

Folding mattresses for RVs are the secret weapons of the mattress world — they’re there when you need them and they disappear when you don’t.

These smart cookies are designed with a fabric hinge, which allows them to fold up when not being used, but also unfold easily when it’s time to hit the hay after a long day of making memories on the road.

And — best of all — MattressInsider creates comfortable and affordable folding (including tri-fold!) mattresses specially designed to fit inside your RV.

Unique Sizes

RVs are known for their often oddly-sized mattresses — extra short, long and skinny, etcetera etcetera — and that can be challenging when trying to find a replacement mattress.

Well, no need to fret!

MattressInsider is more than capable of creating a mattress to your exact dimensions, no matter how unique. Custom mattresses are crafted to perfectly match the specifications of your RV, so you can rest easy.

Rounded / Radius / Angled Corners

On top of the size, Fleetwood RVs often have oddly shaped mattresses. This includes rounded corners, radius corners, or angled corners, and means standard mattresses just won’t fit.

But fear not — we’ve still got your back (literally!).

Custom mattresses can be tailored to fit these exact unique shapes, ensuring that every inch of your bed is utilized and maximized.

FAQs

What size mattress will fit in a Heartland RV?

The size of mattress that will fit in a Heartland RV depends on the specific model and year, as well as the location of the mattress. RV Kings and RV Queens are very common sizes to find in larger RVs and campers.

These RVs will often also have RV Bunk sizes — and possibly even RV Full sizes. When shopping for a new mattress in an RV, it’s important to double check your mattress dimensions to ensure you order the correct size.

Can I build my own custom mattress for my Heartland RV?

You can build your own mattress using materials you can find at a craft store.

Acquire foam padding, or a foam mattress topper, and measure the back of your RV. Then cut your foam to shape and use an adhesive to bind the foam layers together.

While waiting for the adhesive to dry, measure and cut fabric to use as a mattress cover (or, if you want to skip this step, simply use a fitted sheet).

Once done, place the mattress in the space.

This solution can be inexpensive and quick, but it’s time consuming and difficult to get right. And, even if you manage to create the mattress, the foam may not last as long compared to the foam used by professional mattress builders.

On top of that, you’ll still be missing the very important fire barrier, which will significantly increase the fire danger your mattress poses.
